This is Nix, and she is a very lucky girl indeed! She presented as an emergency late on a Saturday night, after being hit by a car travelling well over the speed limit, and was in an extremely critical condition. The attending veterinarians were worried about internal bleeding, and there were very real concerns that she wouldn't make it.

Over the next few hours the after-hours team worked to stabilise her with fluids, oxygen, and pain relief. An ultrasound was done to assess her internal organs for damage, and x-rays were taken to look for any fractures. She was diagnosed with a dislocated hip and bruised lungs.

Nix exceeded our expectations by being discharged from hospital in less than 48 hours, with nothing more than a dislocated hip and lots of scrapes and bruises! She came in for her 10 day check up, to make sure her hip was still in place and that her other injuries were healing nicely!

An after and before photo (not the other way around, as it is quite graphic) - of a uterine prolapse post calving. Our veterinarian, Dr Katherine, did a fantastic job at helping this cow!
